Chocolatey bites

These gorgeous little chocolatey bites are packed full of nutritious superfoods, making them both delicious and nutritious. They're also really easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 75g (3oz) hazelnuts
  • 125g (4oz) prunes
  • 150g (5oz) rolled oats
  • 2 tbsp flaxseed
  • 1 tbsp black chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp clear honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 50g (2oz) dark chocolate, chopped

Method

  1. Tip the hazelnuts into a small frying pan, and cook over a low heat for 3-5 minutes, shaking frequently, until the nuts are lightly browned. Leave to cool.
  2. Add the roasted hazelnuts to a food processor and whiz until fine. Tip half onto a large plate. Add the remaining ingredients and whiz until a thick paste forms. Using your hands, roll the paste into small walnut-sized balls, then roll the balls in the ground hazelnut until well coated. Refrigerate for up to 3 days.
  • Tip: To make the texture smoother, grind the chia and flaxseeds before adding to the mixture.
