Beef bulgogi recipe

Beef bulgogi is a classic Korean recipe; strips of steak are marinated in a soy, sesame, garlic and ginger sauce before being flash fried with carrots and spring onions. This speedy 15 minute meal is perfect for a midweek treat or as part of a bigger feast with friends at the weekend.

Ingredients
- 454g pack Tesco Finest sirloin steaks, cut into very thin slices
- 1 large carrot, peeled and cut into slim batons
- 1 bunch spring onions, trimmed, halved lengthways and cut into 5cm lengths

For the marinade
- 6 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp rice wine
- 1 clove garlic, sliced
- 2.5cm piece of fresh root ginger, peeled and finely grated
- 2 tbsp soft brown sugar
- 2 tsp sesame seeds

Method
- Place all the marinade ingredients into a large bowl and mix together well until the sugar has dissolved. Add the steak and allow to marinade for 30 mins at room temperature.
- Add the spring onions and carrots and stir well. Place a griddle pan over a medium-high heat and allow to get really hot. Carefully spoon the meat and vegetables onto the griddle pan (in two batches if necessary) and cook for 3-4 mins over a high heat, turning occasionally until cooked and lightly charred in places. Pour over the remaining marinade for the final min of cooking. Serve with rice
