Method

  1. Ask an adult to preheat the oven to Gas Mark 6, 200°C or fan 180°C.
  2. Grease an oven dish to stop the frittata from sticking.
  3. Wipe the mushrooms with a damp paper towel to remove any soil, before carefully slicing them with the help of an adult.
  4. Cut the pepper into strips, also with the help of an adult, and then cut those strips into small pieces.
  5. Wash the potatoes and chop them into quarters, again with the help of an adult.
  6. Rinse the spring onions and snip them into small pieces using the scissors.
  7. Place the mushrooms, pepper, potato and spring onions into the oven dish. Children could also add a handful of peas or sweetcorn if they like, or their favourite vegetable.
  8. Crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk them together. This is the fun part for children!
  9. Whisk the crème fraîche into the eggs and mix them together. Or you could use milk instead of crème fraîche.
  10. Pour the egg mixture over the vegetables and grate the cheese over the top.
  11. Ask an adult to place the frittata in the oven to bake for 30 to 35 minutes until it’s piping hot throughout.
  12. Serve as a snack or with salad or soup for dinner.
