Nut-free snack bar recipe

For a quick and easy treat that's perfect for on-the-go, make a batch of these delicious nut-free snack bars. They’re chewy, crunchy and packed with dried fruit and crunchy oats.

Ingredients
- 100g butter, plus extra for greasing
- 3 tbsp golden syrup
- 85g demerara sugar
- ¼ tsp mixed spice
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- 150g porridge oats
- 75g dried cranberries

Method
- Heat the oven to gas 3, 160°C, fan 140°C.
- Grease an 18cm square baking tin well with the extra butter. Melt the butter, golden syrup and sugar in a pan over a low heat until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the spices, oats and cranberries and mix well.
- Spoon into the prepared tin and press down. Bake for 35 mins. Leave to cool for 5 mins, then cut into slices.
