Agua de Valencia recipe

Agua de Valencia

Known as “Valencia water”, this simple cocktail is a classic Spanish drink using fresh orange juice, sparkling wine, vodka and gin. As the name suggests, it comes from the Valencia region of Spain, and it’s the perfect summer cocktail, but you can enjoy it all year round. If you’re serving a crowd, fill glass pitchers and top with ice.

Method

  1. Pour the orange juice, vodka, gin and sugar into a jug. Slice the limes and orange and add to the jug. Stir well.
  2. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour over the cocktail. Top up each glass with the sparkling wine and garnish with fresh mint sprigs.
  • Tip: This recipe would have originally used local oranges from Valencia where it was created, but any orange juice will work. To prepare in advance, make the cocktail as above then chill until needed. Just add the fizz when you serve.
