Meaty marinara burgers

This easy one-pan recipe combines rich tomato sauce and creamy buffalo mozzarella with seared beef, toasted brioche and fresh basil. A flavoursome fusion of two stateside classics; spaghetti meatballs and the all-American cheeseburger. Perfect for a treat day dinner or a family feast.

    Ingredients

    • 360g minced beef
    • 1 egg
    • 40g Parmesan cheese
    • 6 sprigs parsley, picked and chopped
    • 1 tbsp golden breadcrumbs
    • 2 jars pizza sauce
    • 1 ball buffalo mozzarella, sliced into 6
    • 3 brioche buns, halved and toasted
    • 3 sprigs basil, picked

    Method

    1. Mix the minced beef, egg, parsley, breadcrumbs and Parmesan in a bowl until well-combined. Split the mixture into 3 equal portions and form into burger patties.
    2. Heat a wide, lidded saucepan to medium heat and place the burger patties in with the lid off.
    3. Cook on one side for 4 minutes, flip the burgers and top with the mozzarella and add the pizza sauce to the pan. Turn the heat to low, place the lid on and cook for a further 8 mins until the burgers are hot throughout.
    4. Remove the burgers from the pan and place in the toasted buns. Top each burger with with the warm pizza sauce and some fresh basil and serve.
