Crispy brains

The kids will love feasting on these crispy brains! These more-ish treats are made with cereal and gooey melted marshmallow - a very easy recipe and the perfect Halloween party idea.

    Ingredients

    • 175g (6oz) mini marshmallows
    • 25g butter
    • 100g (3 1/2oz) puffed rice cereal
    • sunflower oil
    • red writing, piping or gel icing

    Method

    1. Line a baking tray with nonstick baking paper. Put the marshmallows and butter in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water. Leave to melt, stirring occasionally.
    2. Tip the cereal into a large bowl. Pour over the melted marshmallows and stir to combine – the mixture will be very sticky, but keep going until well mixed. Pour a little sunflower oil onto a plate and dip your hands in it. Shape the mixture into 8 oval brains; and put them on the prepared tray, re-greasing your hands as necessary.
    3. Dip the handle of a teaspoon in oil, then press down along the centre of each cluster, creating a groove.
    4. Using the red icing, drizzle or pipe squiggly lines all over the brains to represent blood vessels. Leave to set for at least 4 hours or until firm.
