Christmas Old Fashioned

Give the classic Old Fashioned a festive twist with the addition of seasonal cranberry juice. This is a great cocktail to serve with dessert, or as an after-dinner drink.

    Ingredients

    • 50ml Scotch whisky
    • 20ml cranberry juice
    • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
    • small handful of ice
    • sugared cranberries (optional, see tip)
    • 1 rosemary sprig

    Method

    1. Pour the whisky, cranberry juice and bitters into an Old Fashioned glass. Fill the glass with ice and stir to combine. Garnish with sugared cranberries and a sprig of rosemary.
    • Tip: To make sugared cranberries, make a simple sugar syrup by dissolving 50g caster sugar in 50ml water over a medium heat. Stir in the cranberries and cook for 1 min. Remove the cranberries with a slotted spoon and allow to dry on a wire rack for 1 hour. Coat the cranberries in 2 tbsp caster sugar and enjoy with your festive cocktails.
