British bloody Mary

You really can't beat a classic British bloody Mary combining tangy tomato juice, sharp lemon, punchy Worcestershire sauce and fiery pepper sauce, you can even add a glug of vodka if you like! The perfect brunch cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 1.2ltr (2pt) tomato juice
  • 3 lemons, 2 juiced and 1 sliced
  • 300ml (1/2pt) vodka (optional)
  • 3 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp celery salt
  • 3 tsp English mustard
  • small celery sticks, to garnish
  • sliced cucumber, to garnish
  • hot pepper sauce, to serve (optional)

Method

  1. Put the tomato juice, lemon juice and vodka (if using) in a large jug.
  2. Add the Worcestershire sauce, celery, salt, some black pepper and mustard. Mix well.
  3. Fill glasses with ice and pour in the cocktail.
  4. Garnish with the lemon slices, celery sticks and cucumber slices.
  5. Serve with the hot pepper sauce on the side for guests to add according to taste.
