Located in the Veneto region 30 km north-east of Venice, Botter was founded in 1928 by Carlo Botter. Over the years the company has developed from a local into an international export business while still being run by the Botter family. It is currently dealing with companies in over forty countries world-wide, from Scandinavia to South America. Although the company is primarily involved in bottling wine produced on various estates in the Veneto and in the other well-known Italian wine regions, the Botter family continues to make wines from its own vineyards: La di Motte estate in Veneto and Friuli . The family is deeply involved in making high quality wines with the help of skilled wine makers. Botter’s range includes the classic wines from Veneto concentrating on single varietals such as, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, and from Puglia; Primitivo, Aglianico and Negroamaro. The company also produces wines from different Italian regions, especially from Abruzz

Puglia spans Italy's long stiletto "heel" and rivals Sicily for being the largest producer of Italian wine. In fact, this 360 kilometre region produces almost twice as much wine as all of Australia. Puglia is mostly a plain but the mountainous Gargano Peninsula breaks through its low coast to the north. There are mountains in the north central part of the region. Industry has expanded rapidly in the 20th century but farming still represents the main occupation in the region. Regional products include olives, grapes, cereals, almonds, figs, tobacco and livestock, including sheep, pigs, cattle and goats. Manufacturing includes refined petroleum, chemicals, cement, iron, steel, processed food, plastics and wine. The fishing industry is active in the Adriatic and in the Gulf of Taranto.
