Description

Pistia stratiotes, commonly known as Water Lettuce, is an attractive floating aquatic plant recognized for its rosette of soft, light green leaves that resemble lettuce. The plant forms a dense mat on the water's surface, providing shade and shelter for fish and other aquatic life. Water Lettuce is not only visually appealing but also helps to reduce algae growth by blocking light penetration. This species is ideal for floating placement in aquariums and ponds, where it enhances the natural aesthetic of the environment. Pistia stratiotes is easy to care for and adapts well to a variety of water conditions, making it a popular choice among aquarists. With moderate to high lighting, this plant flourishes, contributing to a vibrant and dynamic aquatic ecosystem.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - Plants are incubated for one hour in a 0.01% solution of the insecticide Buprofezin. Please do not drop them straight into a shrimp tank, or any tank holding other crustaceans. To use them in such a tank, first wash them in water with baking soda, under light. They are treated to remove the insecticide, but there are cases where it has not been fully removed, causing casualties among crustaceans.
