Description

Ceratophyllum demersum, commonly known as Hornwort, is one of the most popular and hardy aquatic plants available. It is an excellent choice for beginners due to its fast growth, ease of care, and ability to thrive in a wide range of conditions. Hornwort can be used as a floating plant or anchored in the substrate as a background plant, where its long, feathery green stems provide excellent cover for fish and help absorb excess nutrients in the water, making it a natural algae deterrent. This versatile plant can tolerate a wide range of temperatures and water conditions, and it does not require CO2 supplementation or special lighting. Due to its rapid growth, regular trimming may be necessary to prevent it from overtaking the tank. Ceratophyllum demersum is a fantastic choice for aquarists looking to add a hardy, fast-growing plant to their aquarium that can also serve as a habitat for fish fry and shrimp.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - Plants are incubated for one hour in a 0.01% solution of the insecticide Buprofezin. Please do not drop them straight into a shrimp tank, or any tank holding other crustaceans. To use them in such a tank, first wash them in water with baking soda, under light. They are treated to remove the insecticide, but there are cases where it has not been fully removed, causing casualties among crustaceans.
