Description

Ceratopteris thalictroides, commonly known as Water Sprite, is a popular and versatile aquatic fern known for its finely divided, feathery green leaves. This hardy plant is ideal for both beginners and experienced aquarists due to its rapid growth and ability to adapt to a variety of aquarium conditions. Water Sprite can be planted in the substrate as a background plant or left to float freely on the water's surface, where its long, lacy leaves provide shade and cover for fish and shrimp. It does not require CO2 supplementation but will grow more vigorously with added nutrients and moderate light. Its fast growth rate makes it an excellent choice for controlling excess nutrients in the water, helping to prevent algae blooms. Ceratopteris thalictroides is perfect for adding a lush, natural look to any tank, while also providing shelter for small fish and fry.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - Plants are incubated for one hour in a 0.01% solution of the insecticide Buprofezin. Please do not drop them straight into a shrimp tank, or any tank holding other crustaceans. To use them in such a tank, first wash them in water with baking soda, under light. They are treated to remove the insecticide, but there are cases where it has not been fully removed, causing casualties among crustaceans.
