We always recommend purchasing samples first to make sure you are 100% confident.

We strongly recommend using underlay. Without it, stair runners can feel hard underfoot, wear out faster, slip more easily, and amplify noise. Underlay improves comfort, safety, fit, and insulation, especially on wooden or older stairs. Skipping it compromises both performance and appearance.
