Highlights

  • HARDY AND RELIABLE: A robust fig variety that thrives in the UK climate, producing delicious, sun-ripened figs with minimal maintenance. Ideal for gardens, patios, or container growing.
  • SELF-FERTILE AND HIGH-YIELDING: Produces abundant crops without needing a pollination partner. Expect sweet, rich-flavoured figs in late summer, with the potential for a smaller early-season crop.
  • COMPACT AND ORNAMENTAL: Grown as a lollipop-like shaped standard tree, making it perfect for small gardens or urban spaces while adding a Mediterranean touch.

Description

Picking plump, juicy figs straight from a tree in late summer is one of life's greatest pleasures! Perfect in a large pot to keep roots restricted, which increases crops, 'Brown Turkey' is one of the best varieties for UK gardens, easily shrugging off temperatures down to -15C.Unlike many other fruiting trees, ‘Brown Turkey’ is self-fertile, so you don’t need another fig tree to enjoy a bountiful harvest. In late summer to early autumn, this variety produces an abundance of rich, sweet figs with pink-amber flesh, perfect for fresh eating, drying, or adding to recipes. Given the right conditions, you may even enjoy a smaller, earlier crop in late spring or early summer.Despite its exotic appearance, this fig tree is hardy and will thrive in full sun, provided it has well-drained soil. Its compact, manageable size makes it ideal for small gardens, urban courtyards, or container growing on a sunny patio. Pair it with herbs like basil and oregano, which complement its growth while naturally deterring pests.Adding ‘Brown Turkey’ to your garden is more than just growing a tree - it’s embracing the joy of homegrown produce and enjoying the rewards of harvesting fresh, sun-ripened figs right from your own garden.Supplied as an established standard tree in a lollipop-like shape, already 70-100cm tall, in a 3 litre pot.
