Description

Unwins Cherry Plum Tomato Montello F1 Seeds produce a heavy crop of delicious plum tomatoes. These are bush (or determinate) tomatoes, so are perfect for hanging baskets or containers and do not require pinching out. 

Enjoy these plum tomatoes in salads or cook them into delicious sauces.

Harvest: Jul to Sep

Sowing Indoors
Level-fill a module tray with seed compost and firm gently. Water well with a fine rose. Sow seeds individually and lightly cover with vermiculite. Place in a propagator at 18–20 °C or cover the tray with cling film and leave in a warm room. Keep moist.

Growing On
When shoots appear, remove cling film. Keep seedlings in a bright position, shaded from direct sunlight. When plants have 4 leaves, transplant to 8 cm pots of potting compost. Grow coolly at a minimum temperature of 15 °C.

Planting Out
Gradually acclimate plants to outdoor conditions over 2–3 weeks before planting out when temperatures exceed 10 °C. Transfer to grow bags or large pots (minimum 30 cm), either in a greenhouse or a sunny, sheltered spot outside.

Support
Bush/determinate type. No need for pinching—they naturally form a multi-stemmed shape. This vigorous variety will benefit from some support.

Advice
Tomatoes are thirsty and hungry plants. Feed and water regularly and ventilate your greenhouse on warm days.
