Description

Unwins Sweet William Wee Willie Seeds produce hardy annual sweet williams in a coordinated, colourful mix.

These flowers look stunning in garden borders and have a distinct clove scent. They flower just 8 weeks after sowing!

  • Neat growing habit
  • Quick to flower
Sow: Jan to May
Flowering: May to Oct

Sowing
Level fill a module tray with seed compost, firming with the base of another tray. Water well with a fine rose. Sow seeds individually over the surface, lightly covering with a little more compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator at 15–20°C or cover tray with cling film and leave in a warm room.

Growing On / Planting Out
When shoots appear, remove cling film or ventilate propagator. Keep seedlings in a light position, but shaded from direct sunlight. Grow on in a minimum temperature of 10°C. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2–3 weeks before planting out when the risk of frost has passed. Allow 15cm between plants. Water well until established. Plant in groups of threes and fives for colour impact.

Aftercare
Remove spent flower heads by cutting off the flowering stem within the canopy of the plant to encourage continued flowering.
