Description

Gooseberry 'Invicta' yields large pale green berries with big flavour and a firm bite, producing heavy summer harvests. Recommended by the Royal Horticultural Society, this variety is highly resistant to mildew and crops up to twice as heavily as many others, making it ideal for cooking—jam, crumbles and stewing, as the fruit holds its shape and colour. Suitable for pots or borders; plant in sunny or partly shaded, fertile, well-drained soil, space bushes about 1.5 m apart, soak bare roots for an hour before planting and prune annually in late winter. Store bare-root plants in a cool, dry place and water regularly during dry spells.
