It was he who, in the early twentieth century, expanded and modernised the distillery at the ‘hollow by the bay’, creating in Warehouse No. 1 an emblem of whisky-making excellence. It was he who guaranteed the distillery’s access in perpetuity to the waters of the Kilbride Stream, Laphroaig’s lifeblood; he who introduced the American White Oak casks still so integral to Laphroaig whisky’s flavour.This fifth and final edition pays hommage to Ian’s enduring spirit through a whisky double matured in a combination of first fill ex-bourbon American Oak barrels and Pedro Ximénez European Oak HogheadsTasting Notes:Colour: Deep CopperNose: Lightly peaty with iodine and burnt wood notes. Floral green malt, sweet candyfloss and vanilla fudge, nimble fruit accents of blueberry and raspberry.Taste: Sweet and spicy, with the characteristic Laphroaig peaty reek and hints of cold barbecue ash kiln wall.
