Ingredients

  • 350g plain flour
  • 1tsp bicarbonate soda
  • 2tsp ground ginger
  • 100g butter
  • 175g brown sugar
  • 4tbsp golden syrup
  • 1 beaten egg

Method

  1. Sift the plain flour, mix 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda, 2 tsp ground ginger together.
  2. Rub in 100g butter then add 175g brown sugar, 4tbsp golden syrup and 1 beaten egg. Mix to form a soft dough. Roll out and stamp out 12 gingerbread men.
  3. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at Gas Mark 5, 190ºC, fan 170ºC for 10-12mins. Leave to cool.
  4. Get the kids to decorate these gingerbread men biscuits using tubes of ready-made white and black icing to look like skeletons.
