Hot honey whisky

Sweet 'n' spicy, our hot honey whisky is the perfect gift for that special someone this Christmas. Enjoy it neat, or warmed up in a hot toddy!

Ingredients

  • 100g runny honey
  • 100ml water
  • 1/2 chilli (stalk removed and halved)
  • 500ml Grants triple wood blended Scotch whisky
  • you will also need sterilised gifting bottles (enough for the quantity), labels and ribbon

Method

  1. Heat the honey, water and chilli in a pan until simmering, then leave to simmer for 2 mins. Remove from the heat and allow to cool to room temperature for around 20 mins.
  2. Add the whisky, mix well, then strain into sterilised bottles or jars*. Label the bottles and decorate with ribbon.
  3. Store in a cool, dark place. Serve neat, in hot toddies or as a long drink with sparkling water and ice. This will keep in a sealed container for up to one month.
    • *To sterilise glass jars, wash in hot, soapy water and rinse well. Dry in the oven for 15-20 mins at gas 1, 140°C, fan 120°C until hot and completely dry. Boil metal lids and rubber seals for 10 mins, then leave to dry.

    • Tip

      The hotter the chilli, the spicier the drink will be so it’s worth tasting the chilli before adding it to check you’re happy with its heat.
