Cocoa and pear porridge recipe

Created by The Tesco Recipes team
A weaning staple, porridge is a brilliant and familiar breakfast option. In this cocoa version, we’ve snuck in extra goodness on the sly. There’s grated pear and chia in the mix, so if your little one is becoming a bit fruit and veg suspicious (if you know, you know), this is the breakfast for you. Plus, we’ve included a tip for turning any leftovers into muffins.

Method
- Mix all the ingredients together in a large saucepan over a medium-high heat. Bring to a very gentle simmer and cook, stirring regularly for 5 or so mins until thick and the oats have softened. Allow to cool slightly for a few mins, then serve with extra pear on top.
- Tip: Only need one portion? Allow the remaining porridge to cool completely in the fridge for 2 hrs until thick, then mix with 2 medium eggs, 100g mashed banana and 3 tbsp milled flax seed. Spoon into 18 mini muffin cases in a tin and bake at gas 6, 200°C, fan 180°C for 15 mins, then allow to cool completely. The porridge muffins will last for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
