Sow Indoors: Jan to Apr
Sow Outdoors: Sep to Oct
Flowering: May to Aug

Pre-Sowing
Place the seeds on moist kitchen roll in an airtight container and leave in a warm room, then sow as soon as they begin to swell or sprout. Alternatively, soak overnight, but sow immediately afterwards.

Sowing Indoors
Sow singly in rootrainers or 8cm pots, 1cm deep. Water after sowing, but not again until seedlings have emerged. Keep around 15°C until germinated.

Growing On / Planting Out
Pinch out tips once seedlings are 7–10cm tall to encourage bushier growth and more flowers. Keep in a cool but bright position. Keep autumn-sown seedlings in a cold frame or greenhouse, or under a cloche. Plant out 20cm apart from late March onwards when the weather is getting milder, in a sunny position. Avoid disturbing the roots.

Sowing Outdoors
Sow seeds in pre-watered, compost-enriched soil 2cm deep, around 7cm apart, once the soil is starting to warm in spring. Keep soil moist until seedlings emerge and thin to about 20cm apart once they are more developed.

Aftercare
Support with canes, netting, or a trellis to about 60cm. Tie stems into the support every week or so as the plants grow. Also ideal for large pots. Feed and water regularly, and pick flowers often to ensure a continuous supply.

Product Care InstructionsSweet peas are a beloved UK garden favourite, offering a kaleidoscope of colours and delightful fragrances from May through September. Their climbing habit makes them ideal for trellises, borders, wigwams, or even cascading over shrubs. With a little preparation, sweet peas are easy to grow and make excellent cut flowers for your home. Indoor Sowing Sow seeds in pots filled with quality seed compost during October–November or late January–April. To aid germination, soften seeds by placing them on a damp towel or in vermiculite until they swell. Tough seeds can be lightly nicked opposite the ‘eye’ to let moisture in. Place pots in a warm greenhouse, conservatory, or cold frame, keeping soil moist but not waterlogged. Planting Out Harden off Professional Grower Plugs before transplanting to a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil enriched with compost or manure. Plant around 10 inches (25cm) apart, securing each to canes or a wigwam. Regular watering during dry periods supports healthy growth and abundant blooms. Care and Maintenance Encourage strong, bushy plants by pinching out the top of main shoots when around 4 inches (10cm) tall. Feed with a potassium-rich liquid fertiliser to boost flowers and tie plants gently to supports as they grow. Dead-head faded flowers throughout the season to prolong flowering and maintain plant health. Did You Know? Sweet peas are not only beautiful in the garden—they make charming cut flowers that fill your home with fragrance, allowing you to enjoy their blooms long after picking.
