Regional Information

The Haut-Médoc is an appellation located on the left bank of Bordeaux, along the Gironde estuary, known for its gravelly soils that promote grape ripening. The wines, primarily reds, are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and offer a beautiful structure with aromas of black fruit and sometimes woody notes. It is a region that produces wines in the classic Bordeaux style, often capable of aging well, with a range of price points.

Vinification Details

The 2019 Tour du Haut Moulin is vinified in concrete tanks, which allow for precise temperature control during fermentation. Fermentation lasts approximately 10 to 12 days, after which the wine remains in contact with the skins for 3 to 4 weeks to extract color and aromas. A small portion of the wine (25%) is then aged in new oak barrels, which adds woody notes and greater complexity. The wine is then aged for 15 months to round out and develop harmony.

History

A family estate managed by the Poitou family since 1870. Lionel Poitou succeeds 6 generations of renowned and passionate winemakers. Several times finalist and semi-finalist in the Crus Bourgeois contest.
