Vinification Details

The grapes are hand harvested in April at optimum ripeness, before cold maceration and fermentation in concrete vats for 14 days. The wine is unoaked, with soft round tannins and balanced acidity.

History

In the 1990's a group of producers recycled two old wineries, updating them with state-of-the-art technology, and have now become the largest winery in the Valley producing gold medal winning wines. This co-operative of 60 producers, under the name San Carlos Sud, control approximately 700 hectares of vineyards and produce 7 million liters annually, including their own wines and those of third parties. They export their wines and reinvest all their profits in the Uco Valley.

Regional Information

The Uco Valley is a region formed by three departments: San Carlos, Tunuyán and Tupungato, at 33° south latitude. The altitude above sea level, which is in the range between 900 and 1,200 m, the abundance of mountain water, the stony soil and the semi-desert climate, make this valley a true paradise to achieve quality vineyards.
