I bought the tin a while ago, so it may be the old recipie. I loved the sauce, The chicken tasted like tinned chicken, but if you want a quick meal, this is perfect. Put in a pan for a few minutes to heat through and with some microwave rice it is a good on the go option.
Not British Ingredients
It was chicken from an unknown foreign source, Thailand, not British. I bought several tins of different things to try for camping etc. One of the other tins said "British Chicken" and I didn't check all of them thoroughly enough. I wouldn't have bought it had I realised. Whether the taste was ok is irrelevant, we should be Buying British.
What Have You Done?
I used to buy this all the time when it was the old recipe. The chicken chunks were a good size and the the sauce was perfect. On buying the new recipe I was surprised to find the chicken was smaller and less quality chicken and the sauce was very thin. Come on Tesco, read what your customers are telling you as they are paying for a product through many food ranges that have had changes but you seem to burry your head in the sand.
Deceiving switch to poor quality.
This is vastly inferior to the original product. Packaging made to look similar. This lacks taste and quality. Usual Tesco trick, very poor.
This used to be good, very tasty for a quick meal and we were gutted when Tesco removed it. Now it's back in stock with changes and I have no clue what they have done but it tastes awful, really bad it has this horrible metallic taste to it, won't be buying this again, please bring back the old recipe.
“New” worst ever taste! Not even worth 50p
Why? why? why? I have been eating this for years regularly telling people it is really nice, but today I got two cans of “ new recipe “ and it was disgusting, the chicken is visibly worse, the veg is limp, and the sauce is runny and also disgusting! Needs to be changed back or just removed from sale
No longer a treat
Less meat of poorer quality. Fewer vegetables. Far more sauce, but it is thin and watery, rather than rich and thick. 2 grammes lighter. This used to be a treat. Not any more. I won't be buying again.
Disgusting Taste of Vinegar
I had regularly purchased and enjoyed this product for several years but was dismayed to find that Tesco have ruined it, why have they done it? It now tastes disgusting! The chicken content has been reduced from 40% to 29% and the taste has been reduced. It now has a watery consistency with a strong taste of vinegar. I had to throw it out. I also notice the label now states ‘Tangy & Sweet’ rather than ‘A Taste of China’ Don’t Tesco use taste testers any more when changing the recipe? Please change it back to how it used to be.
Do not buy. I have been buying Tesco's range of me
Do not buy. I have been buying Tesco's range of meals in a can for years and they were all really tasty. They have recently (June 21) changed recipe or supplier and now are awful. The Sweet and Sour is the worst. It used to be delicious but it now smells and tastes just vile. I have just returned three tins of it and three tins of the chicken casserole as they are inedible. I also tried the "new" chicken jalfreizi which was also disgusting but thankfully had only bought one tin. The sweet and sour gave me upset tummy. I regularly bought all of Tesco's tinned meals in the past as they were tasty and easy. I will now be buying tinned meals elswhere. I don't understand how Tesco's can let such awful tasting food be sold in their supermarkets and under there own name!! The portion size has also decreased from 400g to 392g. Bring back the old recipes....Please! I'll be shopping less in Tesco in the future, but hopefully they'll bring back the "Old" recipes.
This used to be a very tasty meal. However "New"
This used to be a very tasty meal. However "New" just means the recipe has been meddled with. The sauce is now like tap water, almost all the vegetables have been removed, and it tastes no where near as nice. Please bring back the original version!
