FTW, tastes good and can still diet.
No problems here, if your trying to lose weight and you love your cheese..... I take this every day... Would like 50% reduced block too..... Makes me feel mighty good.
Good quality, very tasty, can't tell its reduced fat, use like ordinary cheese. Good in sauces and melts on toast, will not return to higher fat cheese now.
Oh Tesco, what's happened to this cheese? It used to have a rich extra mature cheddar flavour and now it just tastes rubbery and bland. Certainly not extra mature. Won't be buying again.
Product was outstanding before, crumbly with full
Product was outstanding before, crumbly with full bodied flavour. Now seems to have undergone a radical reformulation - recent batches have been rubbery and bland. Was the original product truely 30% lower fat Tesco? If yes why ruin a previously excellent product?
Changed recipe - tastes awful
I used to buy this cheese all the time. The last few months, it's changed drastically. Used to be firm and slightly crumbly with a good strong flavour - and it was less fat - brilliant. Now it tastes full fat, tastes rubbery with no flavour at all. What have you done to it? I kept buying it in the hope it was just a batch, but no, doesn't seem to be. Avoid!
Probably more taste in the packaging
After trying many reduced fat cheese over the years this was always a stand out product. It actually tasted like a full fat cheese the texture was exactly the same, it toasted well what more could the slightly health conscious individual want, alas it was to good to last, I'm not sure how you can transform a product from hero to zero in such a short spell of time but fair play to the cheese tasting department of Tesco's you have done a splendid job of ruining what was a great product.
Why the change from a good product to a poor one?
The last time I bought this fat reduced extra mature cheddar I was really impressed: good texture, good flavour, not greasy when put in a toasted sandwich. This time I knew something was wrong the minute I opened the packet: it was bendy, rubbery, tasted very poor, made a very stringy toasted sandwich + is essentially a highly processed cheese. Why the change?
I have bought this cheese for years and its been great, but recently the recipe seems to have changed. It doesn't seem as cheesy and the texture is more rubbery. It's also a more yellow in colour. Its OK, but I've switched to try some other lower fat cheese.
I bought this in the hope of reducing the amount of fat we consume but this has the rubbery texture and mild taste of Edam. It’s certainly worked as I intended as we didn’t eat it at all, it was far too bland.
Love this .. nothing lost in the flavour by it being reduced fat.
