This was a substitute I sadly accepted. Don’t buy.
Terrible. Grey mushy fish coated in a greasy batter. I had to pour the grease off the baking tray several times while cooking. I only cooked two of the ‘fillets’ needless to say the remaining two went straight into the bin.
Soggy stodgy greasy batter. I expected better.
No chip shop would dare sell rubbish like this! Extra large, maybe the box, not the child size fillets inside! Good job the cooking instructions were followed (put on a rack with drip tray under), or the oven bottom would have a large amount of oil from the disgusting "batter".Do yourself a favour and buy any other product, because they must be better than this apology for battered cod.
These are my Friday night treat- nearly as good as my local fish and chip shop, which I can’t get to any more. Excellent quality.
Very poor quality. The fish was very oily and sog
Very poor quality. The fish was very oily and soggy at the bottom. The fish from the fish & chips shop are better quality. Would never but this product again. I will stick to the Tesco's brand in future.
Awful ! Greasy, horrible stodgy batter, fish was grey and tasteless. I'm Going running straight back to the cut price supermarket beginning with the letter 'A' for their huge cod portions in bubbly beer batter, which are GORGEOUS !
OK, but not as good as the Tesco Extra Large Cod
The fish itself tasted quite good, but the batter was so thin you could see through it, although it was fairly crispy. Not sure how they can describe this as extra large. In the chip shop, this would be a child's portion. Please bring back the Tesco 400g Extra Large Cod fillets, which are MUCH better
Really enjoyed this fish
Sorry, but that's it.
We used to enjoy this product, but it has really gone downhill in recent months. Instead of being a plump piece of white fish, it is now a thin grey filling that a looks like it has been reconstituted. And it has no resemblance to the illustration on the box. As another reviewer has mentioned, the batter is so full of oil that it spatters all over the oven, but that is nothing new. Won't be buying it again. It's very disappointing, as it was a regular for us, and useful to have in the freezer.
Swimming in oil!
This fish is soaked in oil which has made the oven very dirty, not only does it drip into the baking tray, it splutters all over the oven walls and roof. One to avoid in future!
