Cook per instructions on box and it is very good.
I don't agree with so many negative comments it needs to be cooked acording to the instructions. Very hot oven and on a rack to let the fat drain. if cooked as per instructions it is , in my view, a good piece of battered cod. I agree not as good as the tesco branded large cod which is sadly not available Hence only 4 stars.
Misleading, this is formed cod
Extra large is pushing it a bit they are medium. After cooking on the rack the batter was quite light but the fish was mushy, the front of the box says cod fillets so i searched the box and at the end of the box it says in small print ... formed cod fillets, that's very misleading it should be on the front of the box. The cooked fish bears no resemblance to the photo on the box which is flaky cod. Wouldn't buy again.

If you like your meals swimming in FAT, then you will love this. If you like healthy food then give this product a very wide berth. The Haddock in batter is just the same, these 'meals' are the worst type of food anyone can eat!!! Just out of interest I posted a very similar comment on Youngs Seafood web page and it was remover very quickly?! Be careful what you buy is the moral here!!
A shockingly bad product
Youngs should be ashamed of this product. The filets were tiny. There was barely a forkful of fish. Nothing like chip shop fish. I was embarrassed to serve it to guests. I’m now turned off buying their other products. To quote my lunch guest: ‘not one of your best dishes’ and yes I followed the cooking instructions to the letter. A disgrace.
More like medium than Extra large
80g of cod per portion is not extra large unless you're a baby!
Awful. Is it even fish?
Awful. Is it even fish?
Disgusting!!
This used to be good but now the fish is substandard with a horrible taste. The batter is soggy. I find it odd that everything you buy now has changed for the worse. I would rather cook from scratch now. I buy my meat from a local farm.
Disgusting
OMG, this is absolutely disgusting, fish ( if that’s what it is) is a dirty grey colour, completely tasteless and swimming in fat. To call this chip shop fish is an insult to chip shop owners. Tesco you must discontinue this awful product now.
Fish was engulfed in a dish full of grease!
No comparison to Tesco's chunky fish in batter which wasn't available at the time of purchase. The fish was very thin and by the end of cooking time was swimming in grease which I assume had escaped from the very soggy batter. Will not purchase again!
This was a substitute I sadly accepted. Don’t buy.
Terrible. Grey mushy fish coated in a greasy batter. I had to pour the grease off the baking tray several times while cooking. I only cooked two of the ‘fillets’ needless to say the remaining two went straight into the bin.
