The picture shows whole Cavolo Nero leaves but you keep substituting choped leaves. If you cook long enough to eat the stalks (at least 30 min) the leaf will be mush. With a whole leaf you can pull the stalk free with your hands and put the inedible stalk on the compost heap. Who would be daft enough to cut out the stalk from hundreds of chopped bits. Much better than the chopped version. Stalks can be easily stripped out, so the leaves can be used for salads, smoothies etc. I remove the stalks, shred the leaves and bake in a hot oven with soft brown sugar and chinese 5 spice. Needs to be thoroughly washed as it does sometimes come with what seems to be insect/caterpillar debris – if not for that, I'd give it the full 5 stars.
Good quality, but so often unavailable
Good quality product and good flavour. Value for money. Keep much longer than the 3 days advertised. However, it is so often unavailable that I have to give it a 4 star rather than 5 star review.
Very little waste and much better quality than the pre-chopped varieties which seem to be mostly stem
Very disappointed, a rare lapse in Tesco quality.
If this is 'finest' I dread to think what 'non finest' looks like. I threw over half away as soon as I opened the pack, it was discoloured, full of holes and contained what looked like caterpillar frass. I didn't find any actual caterpillars but I was not impressed. I won't being buying it again despite liking cavolo nero. I'll just have to stick to the bags of ready chopped kale.
I received this last order. I do not like it cut
I received this last order. I do not like it cut up nor do I like kale cut in small slices.
Lovely raw in salads
Yummy. Especially raw and in smoothies. A solid bite to it
Favourite Sweet Leafy Green
My favourite green, this and Bok Choi. Online delivery packets are usually very fresh. It is a lovely sweet leafy green.
Worms followed by white flies
Used to be good but then we had one batch that had little caterpillars, followed by another infested with cabbage whiteflies. A real shame.
Couldn’t fault it for freshness, but I had to thro
Couldn’t fault it for freshness, but I had to throw the whole bag away because the kale was covered in small white flies. Very disappointing because it’s my favourite green veg,
