Vinification Details

  • The grapes were harvested in the early morning to preserve all the flavours and aromas. After gentle destalking, the grapes are crushed and moved to stainless steel tanks where pre-fermentation maceration takes place for 3 days at 10 degrees Celsius. Standard maceration follows with 2 pump overs and the grapes left to ferment until dry.

  • The vines were planted between 2000 and 2004. Choice of cultivar clone and rootstock were well selected in the rich soils that the Western Cape offers. Vines are pruned to deliver well balanced crop and vineyard practices gets managed accordingly. The need for irrigation gets monitored on a weekly basis to ensure the vines never stress during ripening phase

Regional Information

  • A Mediterranean climate dominates the Western Cape with the coastal regions influenced by nearby oceans - The Cold Benguala current (Atlantic ocean) from the South Pole flows along the western coast and the warmer Mozambique current (Indian ocean) follows the South coast.

Good value red wine. I will definitely buy again.

4 stars

Silly price for a very pleasant Shiraz. I have been drinking red wines for 45 years so I know a decent wine when I taste one. No doubt, there are more subtle examples of Shiraz wines, but this is excellent at the price and also pretty low alcohol at 11.5%. That is definitely an advantage to those of us with a red wine habit. Maybe good to know that red wines contain antioxidants, which is good for lowering your cholesterol levels. Enjoy....(In moderation) :)

Light bodied but very drinkable

4 stars

This is quite a light bodied Shiraz with an alcohol content of 11.5%. Full bodied wines (I believe) are usually 13.5%. I’ve really enjoyed this wine in the warmer weather and the best part is (I’m a “lightweight”) I can have a second glass without waking during the night feeling hot and with a pounding heart! I’m a dedicated full bodied Shiraz and Rioja fan, but I rather like this one.

1 stars

Have had some very good wines from Tesco recently particularly the Malbec but opened this and found it undrinkable. Straight down the sink

Great Value

Excellent quality at this price point. A very drinkable Shiraz. You'd have to pay a lot more to get anything better.
