Awful
Worst curry paste I have ever tried. No flavour, watery and rubbish. Avoid at all costs.
Awful
This was completely inedible, had the most overwhelming flavour of aniseed it was so strong you couldn't taste anything else. Not a hint of anything resembling a massaman curry. So disappointed.
Disappointing.
If you are looking for the authentic Massaman curry taste, like you had last time in Thailand, then this product will disappoint. It is fairly spicy, but adds no discernible taste. It produces a brown coloured sauce, whereas it should really be of a greenish hue.
Horrible
This paste was horrible. It had a rancid, bitter taste. Luckily I made the sauce before adding my beef so I was able to just throw the sauce away.
Avoid.
Shockingly bland. Avoid this. I made a curry with double the recommended quantity and it was tasteless. Branded paste is worth every penny.
Avoid
If you like Massaman curry avoid this. It’s not a paste but a sauce that falls out of the bottle by itself. It’s very bland, and artificial tasting. I had to make it taste better by adding a a bit of chilli powder (I don’t like very hot food!) and fish sauce. You’re better off spending a bit more from a different producer to get an authentic flavour.
Excellent
Excellent. You need the whole jar for a 4 person curry. Ideal if you add tamarind paste and fish sauce for authentic flavour
tasteless brown gelatinous goo
Bland, nothing like a massaman curry and not a paste- a completely tasteless brown cook-in sauce. Thoroughly disappointing and pointless.
Use half the coconut milk
I think they have the quantities wrong on the label - we use 2 jars of paste and one tin of coconut milk and it is great. I’m not a fan of hot food and this is fine for me.
Unpleasant
A really unpleasant taste and texture.
