Description

FINEST CAHORS MALBECWith flavour of plum, dark cherries and savoury herbs with a lovely smooth finish. Malbec grapes grown in the idyllic vineyards of the Cahors appellation in south west of France, are selected by the winemaker to showcase the vibrant flavours of this classic French grape variety. A great match for thick steaks seared on the barbecue, or in colder weather oven roast rib of beef. Store in a cool dark place. To enjoy this wine at its best, drink within two years of purchase. Regional Information

Fleurie is one of the 10 Beaujolais Crus. The appellation area is in the southern part of the Beaujolais vineyards, to the north of the Rhône département. It is surrounded to the north and the east by the Moulin à vent appellation, to the west by the Chiroubles appellation and to the south by the Morgon appellation. The vines are planted on hillsides. The Fleurie appellation covers approximately 900 hectares.

Vinification Details

After being hand-picked, the grape-harvest «undergoes» the traditional carbonic maceration of Beaujolais wines. The length of the vatting period depends on the desired structure, but does not exceed eight days.

History

Bertrand Straebler was born in 1963. He became the Winemaker for Labouré-Roi in 1995. “Initially, I modelled my wine by imitating the older, traditional produce. Later, I let my imagination roam, abandoning empirical methods & modelling the vines with the respect they deserve. I always maintained the authentic balance of the landscape & soil. Every year, I work hard to respect what nature entrusts to me & pass on this creative work, to give pleasure to all those who love great Burgundy wines.”
