This is not Chinese Five Spice
This is not Chinese five spice. It has too many added ingredients which spoil the authentic flavour. It has a overriding taste of something else, one of the other added products I fennel I think. Very disappointed. Packaging and storage quality good.
Added sugar and salt.
30.9% sugar and 16.7% salt. I prefer Tesco own brand 5 spice which is literally 5 different spices. Very disappointed.

A good one to have in the cupboard if you like Asian flavours, I used it to make chicken and black bean sauce. Much more convenient than buying all the spices separately.
Lovely sweet and smoky flavour!
We eat a vegan diet and have just fried up some faux chicken pieces with this Schwartz Chinese 5 Spice seasoning and it was delicious. We had the chicken pieces with fried veg and it really made what is quite a simple dish, really tasty! It has a really nice sweet and smoky flavour. Definitely recommended. We’re going to use it in fajitas tonight too!
Perfect for steak, bursting with flavour
My first time using this spice and was surprised I sprinkled over my steak and loved the flavour it gave to it.. I can see me using this on so many meats and adding flavour to a stir fry too is next on my list. The flavours burst in my mouth and certainly not too much either. I used a tsp sprinkled on 1 side and 1tsp on the other side
Great addition to a BBQ
The Schwartz Chinese 5 Spice tastes amazing and made a great addition to my BBQ food. It was enjoyed by all the family and is a seasoning that I will be buying again (after this one runs out). We added it to BBQ chicken, chips and even vegetarian alternatives and they all went down a treat!
It was my first time trying this spice and it's so good! Lovely flavour to marinate meat or add flavour to chicken wings or ribs! Also love it for a good stir fry and barbecue!

This compares very poorly with the cheaper Tesco own-brand version - while the Tesco version comprises just the 5 spices & nothing else, this Schwartz version lists sugar and salt as the main ingredients and, adding them up, the actual 5 spices appear to constitute no more than 25% of the ingredients..
