Just made vegetable soup using this bouillon. Not the first time I've used this product. Not sure if they have changed the recipe, but now soooo salty will definitely not be purchasing it again.
Way too salty, hadn't used to be. There is a low salt version but sadly, not stocked by Tesco.
How the mighty have fallen...
I ordered one batch of the genuine swiss vegetables powder. It was divine. Last 2 shops I ordered 2 pots each time. They switched them for the regular vegetables on which is Aweful stuff. I will not be ordering these again they are foul. It is a shame that they made this switch as the original product with the label "Swiss Vegetable" was great. If it does not have "Swiss Vegetable" on the pot you got conned.
I have used this for years to make soups but I am
I have used this for years to make soups but I am afraid the container I opened today Batch L0330 is awful. The smell was definitely off when I opened it. I wouldn't think it was just a change of recipe. I am disappointed for I am not really wanting to change brand.
I have been using this product for years in gravy and soup. However, I agree with many of the other reviewers that this is now too salty. Not so noticeable in homemade soup but it is when used for gravy. Please, please stock the reduced salt version.
vegan version please
it contains cows milk
Brilliant hot drink when ill
Had some of this in the cupboard (for mince etc) when I got ill so finally used it to make a hot drink as the instructions suggest and I was pleasantly surprised. It's salty and mild, kind of like the broth aspect of chicken broth soup - perfect for when you're ill and quick to make. Will definitely be stocking up. And to everyone who keeps moaning that it's salty - yes, it's a stock, what do you expect? Just use less if you don't like much salt!
Tastes good but watch out for the salt content
I bought this product as an alternative to chicken stock for use in soup and some other dishes. The flavour is not bad, the only downside is the salt content can be very high if you're using more product. Less is always more in this case.
I have been using this for years and I think it has nice flavour. When I make soup, I use less than the recommended amount. I also use it instead of salt to flavour cabbage or leeks whilst they are cooking. Much easier to use than stock cubes; as it is a powder, it is easy to adjust how much you put in.
Excellent & easy to use packaging
