Preparation and Usage

  • Step 1. Carry out an allergy test 48 hours before colouring.
  • Step 2. Pour the Colour Blend Formula (labelled 1) into the Colour Blend Activator (labelled 2) and close the cap. Close the applicator bottle and shake.
  • Step 3. Apply Colour: Part out hair into small, even sections using the applicator tip. Apply colour first to your roots and stubborn greys. Work through hair from root to tip to ensure full saturation, but don't rub into the scalp. Pour any unused colour mixture down the drain as it will lose its effectiveness after an hour. If any colour gets on your skin, wipe it off with a damp towel.
  • Step 4. Time it: Leave on for 25 minutes or the time indicated by your Strand Test. Tip: If your greys are really stubborn, it may be necessary to leave colour on for up to 45 minutes.
  • Step 5. Rinse and Condition: Add a small amount of warm water and massage into a lather. Rinse until water runs clear. Apply the CC ColourSeal™ Conditioner to help lock in highlights and shine. For optimal colour results, leave on for 2 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Save remaining CC ColourSeal™ and continue to use once a week (after shampooing) in place of your usual conditioner for a total of 6 weeks.

Did not cover any gray hair. I followed directions exactly. Other brands have worked in the past and I decided to try this one out. Don't recommend. The coloring doesn't stick.

Not Enough to touch up all roots

I have used Clairol Touch Up to touch up my roots in the past. The color is natural, it leaves hair soft and full. I mixed the bottles and saw the small amount of color I had to work with. I used less than normal on each application. My hair is fine. I stretched it out as best as I could but I ran out of color and could not cover all my roots. I had to buy another box to complete. It's like buying nail color that only covers one hand!

Why did you discontinue Age Defy Dark Brown 4? This was the best hair dye I ever used. It covered my grays. Lasted for weeks. Left my hair in great condition. I have been using it for years. I am very disappointed. PLEASE bring it back!!!!!!

I had previously bleached only the front bits of my hair and fringe about 6 months ago but decided I wanted to go back to my natural colour, and the no 7 "Dark Blonde" seemed to be a good match. I dyed all of my hair, including the natural just to be safe, and the outcome was perfect! No orange roots, no black hair disasters, and there is little to no indication that my hair was ever bleached only at the front section. It all blends together very smooth and looks natural! My hair is also very soft and shiny afterwards and application was easy. The only downside I found is that the smell is very strong chemical, not the "floral scent" that it advertises.

I've been using Medium Auburn for many years now and was always pleased with the product - easy to use, good coverage, attractive color, etc. That is until Clairol changed the formula. The "new and improved" version is extremely disappointing. It doesn't cover the gray roots and the color fades within a couple of weeks. I used it just last week and the result was awful. I now have to do it again today hoping it might (??) come out better. Please, please bring back the original formula!!!
