Top-ups for Tesco Mobile – what you need to know

You can now buy top-up vouchers for your Tesco Mobile phone easily online at Tesco direct. These can be downloaded straight to your email address.

The top-up download can be used to top up Tesco Mobile pay as you go handsets.

How do I buy?

All you need to do is add your top-up voucher to your basket and pay for it at checkout. Within the hour, Tesco Mobile will email you a top-up voucher code.

How do I use my online top-up voucher?

To activate your top-up voucher, simply call 4444 free from your Tesco Mobile phone or 0345 940 0000 from any other phone and follow the instructions to apply the credit.

You can also activate your top-up voucher using the Tesco Mobile app.

Once your top-up is complete, Tesco Mobile will send you a confirmation text message.

What do I get from my top-up?

On Tesco Mobile’s Triple Credit tariff, your £10 top-up turns into £30. Or on Rocket Packs, your £10 turns into 3GB data, 500 mins and 5000 texts, which last a month.

FAQs for online top-up vouchers for all networks

When will I receive my top-up voucher code?

After buying your top-up, you’ll receive an email to confirm your order and payment. Within the hour, you should receive a second email from with your top-up voucher code. The email account should be the same one as the one you use for your Tesco direct account.

Why haven’t I been sent my top-up voucher code?

If you don’t receive an email in your inbox, please check your junk/clutter/spam folder as well. If you still can’t find it, call our customer services team on 0800 323 4050/0330 123 4050 between 8am and 11pm, Monday–Friday, and between 8am and 6pm, at the weekend. Please note, we need to receive payment at our end to get things going, so if your bank asks for additional security checks, there may be a hold-up in releasing your code.

Why is my top-up voucher is taking a long time to download?

Depending on your internet connection and the file size, the length of time to download will vary. Some of the digital files can be very large, so we recommend downloading via Wi-Fi.

What do I do if my top-up voucher code doesn't work?

If your top-up voucher is for Tesco Mobile, our team will be happy to help. You can contact Tesco Mobile here. If the top-up is for another network, please get in touch with them directly.

How long have I got to use my top-up voucher code?

Your top-up voucher must be used within 6 months of purchase.

What happens if I lose my top-up voucher code?

Tesco can’t reissue a code if it’s lost, so keep it in a safe place and redeem it as soon as possible. If you have bought your top-up online and been emailed the code, we recommend you save it for future reference. For an in-store purchase, the code will be marked on the receipt and given to you in a product wallet, so hold onto this until you redeem the product.

On the checkout page, it does not allow me to amend the email address

Unfortunately, we don’t offer a gifting service and the top-up voucher code can only be sent to the email address linked to your Tesco direct account.

Tesco’s website states that these products are excluded from the Tesco change of mind policy

That’s right, these top-up vouchers are non-refundable. Please make sure that you choose the correct network and the amount you want, as, once you pay for the code and it starts downloading, we can’t stop the download or the transaction.
