At Dobbies, we add brightness and enjoyment to our customers lives by helping their gardens come alive.

As one of the UK’s leading garden centres, we are not only committed to being a responsible retailer, but also a good neighbour. We are proud to support the communities in which our garden centres are located – and we try our best to add brightness and enjoyment to their lives also. Whether it be teaching children or adults about gardening; helping people to transform green spaces; raising money for charities; or creating get-togethers in our centres for all the community to enjoy.

Every Dobbies Garden Centre has a designated Community Champion. It is their role to deliver the Dobbies Community Plan. They do a great job, and we’re very proud of the worthwhile work they do to help their community. Here’s a snapshot of what they get up to:

Teaching people about gardening

The Dobbies Little Seedlings Club is a free gardening club for youngsters aged between 4–10, teaching them all about plants, wildlife and the environment. The Little Seedlings Club has more than 14,000 annual attendees and meets on the first Sunday of every month in every Dobbies throughout the UK (times in store vary).

Dobbies is also supporting our parent company, Tesco, in its Farm to Fork initiative, which is a nationwide programme dedicated to getting the next generation of kids interested in where their food comes from. Dobbies is helping schools to get growing by offering Little Seedlings workshops in our stores, teaching primary school children about fruit and vegetables, where it comes from and how to grow it.

Grow How is our way of showing adults how to get growing, too! Our in-store experts are on hand to give adults simple and inspiring advice on a whole host of gardening and home topics. And they’ll help you do it your way - from quick fixes to grand designs. Look out for our Grow How stations in our garden centres, where our friendly experts are happy to share their top tips.

Transforming green spaces

Here We Grow encourages local community groups, projects, schools and charities to enjoy planting and growing in their own gardens, by offering products, equipment, support and help. In the past, we’ve organised school sensory gardens and veggie patches. We’ve provided garden makeovers at homes of families in need. We’ve planted trees at elderly homes and disability centres. Wherever we can, we’ve helped.

Supporting charities

At the start of each financial year, each Dobbies store will nominate and appoint one Local Charity of the Year. This charity will then be the first recipient of any fundraising activities at Dobbies individual stores throughout the year. We also like to extend our help across the country too. So every year, Dobbies will select one National Charity partner to support at Christmas time. Last Christmas, we are proud to have supported supporting Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK. With the generous support of our customers, we raised over £300,000 for our charity partners last year.

At Dobbies we don’t just help the nation, we get it growing.
