Description

Thalia dealbata, commonly known as powdery alligator-flag, is a tall, clump-forming marginal aquatic perennial with broad, paddle-shaped green leaves that rise above the water, creating bold architectural interest in ponds and wet gardens. In summer it produces slender spikes of small purple flowers that contrast strikingly with the foliage, adding texture and vertical structure to naturalistic plantings.

This species thrives in shallow water or consistently moist soil and provides ecological value by attracting pollinators such as bees. Its upright, spreading habit and tolerance of waterlogged conditions make it ideal for pond margins, lakesides, and wildlife-focused planting schemes.
