Description

Vitis 'Aurore', also catalogued as Seibel 5279, is a white-skinned, early-ripening hybrid raised in France by Albert Seibel. Its cold tolerance and short season suit it particularly well to the UK. The vines are vigorous and productive, carrying medium bunches of pale green grapes that take on a light pink blush when fully ripe, with a mild, slightly musky flavour.Flowering falls in late spring and fruit ripens from late August, among the earliest of any outdoor grape. Grow in a warm, sunny, sheltered position on well-drained soil, trained along a trellis or wires and pruned regularly to control its vigour. Good airflow and shelter from prolonged rain help prevent powdery mildew and fruit splitting.
