The Indian summer campsis definitely has an exotic look to it; with its lush glossy leaves and beautiful orange blooms that make a bold statement as a beautiful climber. However, give this hardy shrub a warm sheltered area in the garden to grow and you wouldn’t believe the ease at which it will reach an impressive size. This makes the Indian summer campsis a brilliant plant to cover walls, fences or pergolas and turns them into part of your summer display with a vigorous nature without becoming invasive.

Trumpet creepers also cope well with dry conditions and clay soils, making them also an option for gardens with less than desirable soils. While campsis plants are considered fully hardy, they will perform noticeably better grown in a warm and sunny position where they can climb but also receive some protection.
