Description

Unwins Houseplant Mandarin Plant  (Chlorophytum Orchidastrum) Seeds are part of the NEW Unwins indoor plant seeds range. The mandarin plant has striking, bright orange stems and is easy to maintain. 

With air purifying properties, this vibrant, orange-striped houseplant thrives in bright, indirect light. It is perfect for hanging baskets or tabletops.

Sow: January to December

Sowing
Level fill a tray with Westland Seed & Cutting Compost, firming gently with the base of another tray. Water well with a fine rose. Scatter seeds thinly, covering lightly with vermiculite. Place in a propagator at 20–25 °C or cover with cling film and leave in a warm room.

Growing On
When shoots appear, remove cling film. Keep seedlings in a bright position, shaded from direct sunlight. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant 5 cm apart into trays of Westland Houseplant Potting Mix or singly into small pots. Maintain a minimum temperature of 12 °C.

Advice
Seeds need light to germinate; cover only with a thin layer of vermiculite. A thin dusting of seed & cutting compost may be used, but vermiculite is preferred.
