Description

Marshalls Garden Aubergine 'Pinstripe' is a compact, practically spine-free variety that produces an abundant crop of deep purple fruits liberally striped with white. Sow indoors February–May: use clean 9cm pots or module trays of firm, pre-watered compost, cover seed with 1cm of vermiculite or sieved compost, keep at 21–24°C and moist. Grow on at 16–18°C until late May–June, then plant into a 45cm (18in) patio pot or grow bag and move to a sheltered sunny position or cold greenhouse after frost risk has passed. Prefers full sun and moist, nutrient-rich, well-draining soil; expect plants around 60cm tall and cropping through summer and early autumn. Feed regularly and increase watering as crops form; tie stems to supports if necessary.
