Description

Marshalls Garden 'Lancaster' F1 leek seeds produce a high-yielding crop of uniform, upright stems with blue-green leaves and excellent flavour. This award-winning variety is very frost-hardy, resists bolting, and is recommended by the RHS with the Award of Garden Merit. Sow indoors in seed trays or plugs, keep compost moist and warm for germination, then transplant 15 cm deep with 15 cm between plants and rows 30 cm apart to encourage long, tender white stems. Young leeks can be pulled after 2–3 weeks for salads, while mature plants are ready around 8 months after sowing. For straighter white stems, try sowing into tubes. Suitable for pots, patios, raised beds and traditional vegetable plots.
