Description

Marshalls Garden Leek Seeds 'Terminal' is an early variety producing long white shafts with mid-green leaves and a pleasant, mild flavour. Ready to harvest from August, these vigorous leeks show uniform growth and suit pots, patios, small gardens, raised beds and vegetable plots. Sow indoors in quality seed compost, cover lightly and keep moist, then transplant when plugs are ready. Plant approximately 15cm deep, spacing plants 15cm apart with rows 30cm apart to encourage long tender stems. Prepare soil well beforehand and add bulky compost or manure in winter; apply a general-purpose fertiliser a couple of weeks before sowing or planting. Young leeks can be pulled after 2–3 weeks for salads, while mature plants are typically ready around eight months after sowing.
