Regional Information

Red Hills in Lake County showcases the intensity of place, climate, soils and sunlight which produce grapes and wine of compelling quality and character. Volcanic soils from Mount Konocti produce well drained vineyards rich in black obsidian, quartz crystals and volcanic gravel content. Higher elevations and Lake County's pure air allow for greater UV light which triggers thicker grape skins, greater tannins and intense wines with high phenolic content.

Vinification Details

The grapes were harvested at optimal maturity to ensure concentrated flavors and ideal tannin structure. The vinification process began with meticulous sorting and destemming, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the integrity and vibrancy of the fruit. To enhance complexity and depth, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was then aged in French oak barrels.

History

Motif Wines is dedicated to revealing the character and diversity of California's best regions. Lake County vineyards ring one of the oldest geological lakes in North America. With vineyards starting at 400m reaching up to 1000m above sea level, wines from Red Hills of Lake County are grown in mountain climate conditions. Recommended food pairing with Rib-eye, Filet mignon, lamb, and pastas with red sauce.
