Preparation and Usage
Cooking InstructionRemove all packaging and rest pork at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.- Calculate the cooking time at 30 minutes per 500g plus 40 minutes.- Place the pork joint in a roasting tray.- Dry the rind and lightly rub with oil and generously sprinkle with salt.- Then place in the centre of a pre-heated oven and cook for 40 minutes.Oven - Chilled230°C/Fan 210°C/Gas 8Chilled Reduce temperature to 200°C/Fan 180°C/Gas 6 and cook for remaining time.- Allow to rest for 10 minutes before carving.- Remove string and crackling, carve and serve.CautionTo avoid cross contamination, do not wash raw meat, and always wash hands after touching. Use separate chopping boards and utensils for raw meat and ready to eat foods. Although every care has been taken to remove bones, some may remain.ImportantIt is normal for there to be an odour from this product when opened. Allow joint to rest for 5-10 minutes once removed from the packaging so that the odour can dissipate. Not suitable for microwave cooking. Not suitable for cooking from frozen. All appliances vary, these are guidelines only. Cook thoroughly until steaming hot throughout, no raw pink meat remains and juices run clear. Do not reheat.
Oven
Instructions: Remove pork from packaging and rest at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking. ROAST: 230°C/Fan 210°C/Gas 8 For weight see front of pack. Calculate the cooking time at 30 minutes per 500g plus 30 minutes. Place joint on a roasting tray. Dry the rind and lightly rub with oil and generously sprinkle with salt. Place pork in the centre of a pre-heated oven and cook for 40 minutes. Reduce temperature to 200°C/Fan 180°C/Gas 6 and cook for remaining time. Allow joint to rest for 10 minutes before carving. Remove string, carve joint in the same direction as the string. SLOW COOK: 230°C/Fan 210°C/Gas 8 4 hrs Place joint on a roasting tray. Dry the rind and lightly rub with oil and generously sprinkle with salt. Cover the sides of joint with foil ensuring it doesn’t cover the rind. Place pork in the centre of a pre-heated oven and cook for 40 minutes. Reduce temperature to 170°C/Fan 150°C/Gas 3 and cook for 3 hours 20 minutes. Allow joint to rest for 10 minutes before removing the string and crackling. Place the meat into a bowl and pull apart into shreds using two forks. Important it is normal for there to be an odour from this product when opened. Allow joint to rest for 5-10 minutes once removed from the packaging so that the odour can dissipate.
Storage
Suitable for freezing. Ideally freeze as soon as possible after purchase but always by 'use by' date shown.
Defrost thoroughly for a minimum of 24 hours in the fridge. Once defrosted use within 24 hours and do not refreeze. Follow the preparation guidelines above.
Keep refrigerated. Once opened, consume within 1 day and by ‘use by’ date shown.
