Preparation and Usage
Recipe suggestion
Classic white bread recipe.
Preparation time: 60 minutes
Baking time: 35 minutes
Ingredients:
500g Tesco Strong White Flour;
1½ tsp salt;
1 tsp granulated sugar;
15g soft butter or 15ml vegetable oil;
1 sachet (7g) of Tesco Fast Action Yeast;
300ml lukewarm water.
Equipment:
2lb loaf tin.
Method - Hand Baking:
1. Add flour and salt to a large bowl, stir in the sugar and yeast, then rub in the butter. Add enough water to form a soft dough.
2. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for up to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
3. Shape the dough on a greased and floured baking tray or place in the tin. Cover and leave to rise in a warm place until doubled in size for 45 minutes. Pre-heat oven 230°C/Fan 210°C/Gas 8.
4. Bake the loaf for 15 minutes then reduce oven temperature to 200°C/Fan 180°C/Gas 6 and bake for a further 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is risen, golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped underneath. Turn out and cool on a wire rack.
