Rose and violet chocolate drops

Rose and violet are brilliant together in these chocolate drops and make a lovely edible Christmas gift. Sprinkled with stunning violet crystals, these drops can be made up to a week in advance and stored in gift boxes lined with nonstick paper.

Ingredients

For the nests

  • 100g plain chocolate, broken into pieces
  • ½ tsp rose water
  • ¼ tsp sunflower oil
  • 1-2 tbsp violet crystals

Method

  1. Put the chocolate into a heatproof bowl set over a pan of shallow, gently simmering water. Stir occasionally, until melted and glossy.
  2. Remove from the heat and stir in the rose water and sunflower oil. Set aside to cool for 2-3 mins.
  3. Meanwhile, line 2 baking trays with nonstick baking paper. Using a teaspoon, drop small rounds of chocolate onto the trays. When the rounds are just beginning to set, scatter over the violet crystals. Leave to set in a cool, dry place (but don’t chill).
