Our Airfree Vent is designed to reduce colic, gas and reflux, offering extra protection against feeding issues by preventing air from getting into your little one’s tummy whilst feeding in an upright position.
Our natural response works with your baby's natural rhythm allowing baby to drink, swallow and breathe using their natural rhythm like at the breast which means it's easier to switch between breast and bottle feeding.
Extra large air holes keep your baby's skin drier whilst soothing. We consciously chose silicone material for our ultra air teats since it's a safe and inert material, widely used in medical applications, and free from hazardous chemicals, endocrine active substances (e.g. BPA) and allergens.
Our orthodontic, symmetrical soft silicone teats are designed for natural oral development. Our textured silicone teat is designed to mimic the feel of mum's breast.
Feeding your baby is a wonderful opportunity for moments of connection and bonding, but if your little one is struggling with colic or reflux, it can quickly become overwhelming and stressful.
What are colic and reflux?
Colic affects around 20% of babies* and is often caused by swallowing air during feeding that creates a build-up of gas (wind) in the stomach, leading to pain and excessive crying. Reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux (GER) affects around 50% of babies** and occurs when the contents of the baby’s stomach flow back up into the oesophagus (food pipe). This happens when the ring of muscle that acts as a valve between the oesophagus and stomach is not yet fully developed in infants. As a result, milk and stomach acids can travel back up, leading to symptoms such as irritability, arching of the back, being sick, and fussiness during or after feeding.
How can colic and reflux be reduced?
With the right bottle, you can ease your baby's discomfort, and the Philips Avent Natural Response bottles with AirFree Vent Technology are specially designed to address these feeding challenges. The AirFree vent draws air away from the teat, reducing the amount of air baby ingests. The teat then stays full of milk, even in a horizontal position, allowing for baby to be fed in an upright position, which can reduce reflux symptoms.
