Description

Unwins Green Manure Mustard Seeds reintroduce essential nutrients to your soil. Improving the structure and fertility of your soil, this fast growing plant can be sown from March to September and dig in from May through to November.

Not just a green manure, mustard also acts as a biofumigant, suppressing many soil-borne pests and diseases. It improves soil structure, fertility, and boosts beneficial soil microbes.

An easy alternative to farmyard manure or compost, and sound gardening practice.

Sow: March to September
Incorporate / Harvest: May to November

Sowing
Sow thinly, directly into the required position, 1 cm deep. Keep the soil moist at all times. In mild areas, October sowings can be overwintered.

Digging In
When mustard plants are about 20 cm high, and before seed formation, dig or rotavate them in to a depth of approximately 15 cm. In summer, this may take around three weeks; at other times, up to eight weeks. Allow the soil to settle for a week before sowing or planting the next crop.

Advice
Avoid planting brassicas immediately afterwards, as mustard is in the same family and may encourage pests or diseases.
